Healthy Apple Crumble

Hey guys! So I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus from cooking lately. Brian and I are expecting a new addition to the family in April 2015! We are over the moon and couldn’t be happier. I have been really sick the last while…who ever made up the term “Morning Sickness” is full of it. It’s more like “All Day” sickness. I am now in my second trimester and feeling like I’m finally getting over the sickness hump!

I have a few Thanksgiving parties this weekend. I love this time of year! Made a few pumpkin pies and this healthy apple crumble. Thought I would share the recipe as it’s super easy to make and even better with a side of Vanilla Gelato or Ice Cream 😉

Apple Crumble

Healthy Apple Crumble

INGREDIENTS

  • 10 cups unpeeled, cored, and sliced apples
  • 1/2 cup organic raw sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oat flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  •  1 cup oat flour
  • 1/2 cup packed organic brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup organic butter, melted

Apple Crumble

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C). Place the sliced apples in a 9×13 inch pan. Mix the sugar, 1 tablespoon of oat flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all. Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, pecans and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
Bake for about 45 minutes.
